San Diego Car and Motorcycle Crash in Mission Bay Injures Rider

SAN DIEGO, CA (May 18, 2022) – Late in the afternoon on Monday in the Mission Bay area of San Diego, a crash involving a car and a motorcycle injured the rider. The May 16 crash occurred on Mission Bay Drive in the 4200 block.
The time was roughly a little after 3:15 p.m., according to John Buttle. Buttle is an officer with San Diego Police.
According to reports, the motorcycle was traveling on Mission Bay Drive, and a vehicle–described as a Chevrolet Impala–pulled out from being parked along the curb. The Chevrolet made a U-turn in front of the motorcycle, according to authorities.
The motorcycle collided with the car, and the rider was thrown from the motorcycle.
Responders arrived and transported the rider to the hospital. He suffered injuries that were described as serious, including broken ribs and a collapsed lung, reports say.
He was identified only as 50 years old. His name and city of residence have not been reported.
The person who was driving the car was identified only as 72 years old. The person’s name, age, and gender have not been reported.
The car’s driver was reported uninjured in the crash.
Investigators are working on the crash details.
