Ryan Grizzard Identified as Man Killed in Somis Motorcycle Crash

SOMIS, CA (November 19, 2021) – Authorities identified the man who was killed in a Somis motorcycle crash early in the morning on Wednesday. He was Ryan Grizzard, a resident of Camarillo, 56 years old.

Grizzard had been riding a Harley Davidson motorcycle and traveling on Highway 118 going eastbound. According to the California Highway Patrol, reports say, in an area near Sand Canyon Road, vehicles began to slow down for another vehicle that was making a left turn to enter a driveway.

Authorities said Grizzard traveled over double yellow lines and went into the lane of opposing traffic. The motorcycle collided with a vehicle–described as a Ford–striking its back end. The Ford was in the process of turning to the left, according to authorities.

Responders pronounced Grizzard deceased at the crash site.

The person who had been driving the Ford was reported to be uninjured in the crash. She remained at the crash site and cooperated with the investigation.

She was identified only as a resident of Ventura, 34 years old. Her name has not been reported.

Investigators are continuing their work to understand the crash.
