Long Beach Electric Scooter Rider Dies Days After Being Struck by Car

Man Riding Electric Scooter Struck and Killed On Atlantic Avenue

LONG BEACH, CA (May 3, 2025)  — A man riding an electric scooter has died from injuries sustained in a traffic collision last week in North Long Beach, authorities confirmed.

According to the Long Beach Police Department, the crash occurred around 9:40 a.m. on Wednesday, April 29, in the 6500 block of Atlantic Avenue near Artesia Boulevard. Investigators say the victim was riding through a marked crosswalk when he was struck by a 2019 Honda Accord that failed to stop for a red light.

The Unidentified Scooter Rider Was Transported To A Local Hospital In Critical Condition

The scooter rider, a Long Beach resident, was transported to a hospital in critical condition. Despite life-saving efforts, he succumbed to his injuries on Saturday, May 3. His identity has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin.

The 19-year-old driver of the Honda, also a Long Beach resident, remained at the scene and cooperated with police. No arrests to report so far.  Detectives are continuing to investigate the circumstances, including whether speed played a role in the collision.
