Buena Park Motorcycle Accident On 91 Freeway Near 5 Freeway Kills One

Motorcyclist Killed in Multi-Vehicle Crash At I-5 and SR-91 Interchange

BUENA PARK, CA (April 19, 2025) — A collision involving multiple vehicles killed a motorcyclist Saturday morning near the interchange of the I-5 Freeway and State Route 91 in Buena Park, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).

Witnesses reported the crash around 11:09 a.m., stating that the rider went down off the right shoulder of the freeway near nearby train tracks.

The Crash Involved A Motorcycle, a Kia, and a Possible Third Vehicle

CHP officials say the crash involved a black motorcycle, a Kia, and a possible third vehicle that may have fled the scene. Authorities found both the motorcycle and the Kia on the right shoulder of the freeway. The incident didn’t block any lanes.

Investigators are considering the possibility of a hit-and-run after preliminary reports indicated that a third vehicle may have been involved. Due to the proximity of the crash site to the railroad tracks, Union Pacific Railroad was also notified.

Orange County Coroner Arrived To Deal With The Fatality

Authorities issued a SigAlert and requested a hard closure to give emergency responders and investigators access to the scene. The Orange County Coroner’s Office arrived around 11:40 a.m. to respond to the fatality.

Officials arranged an evidence tow for the motorcycle, and crews continued cleanup efforts for nearly two hours. Fortunately, they lifted the SigAlert and fully reopened the roadway at approximately 1:06 p.m.

No other injuries were reported. But unfortunately, the identity of the deceased motorcyclist has not been released, pending notification of next of kin.

The CHP is continuing its investigation and urges anyone with information about the crash to contact authorities.
