Bicyclist Killed in On MacArthur Blvd. In Irvine

IRVINE, CA (August 22, 2024) — A 61-year-old Irvine resident, Scott Andrew Morris, has died following a bicycle accident that occurred on August 1. The incident took place around 1:20 p.m. near the 405 Freeway at MacArthur Boulevard.

According to the Irvine Police Department, Scott Andrew Morris was riding his bicycle northbound on MacArthur Boulevard in the right turn lane leading to the 405 Freeway on-ramp. For reasons still under investigation, he suddenly veered into the path of a Chevrolet Suburban traveling in the adjacent lane.

Scott Andrew Morris Accidently Veered Into A Chevy Suburban Where He was Ejected From The Bike

Scott Andrew Morris’ bicycle struck the Suburban’s front passenger door and mirror, causing him to be ejected from his bike. He sustained moderate head injuries as a result of the crash and was not wearing a helmet, police reported.

Paramedics quickly transported Scott Andrew Morris to a nearby hospital, but despite medical efforts, he succumbed to his injuries on Thursday, August 22.

Driver of Suburban Stayed and Fully Cooperated With Police

The driver of the Suburban remained at the scene and cooperated fully with authorities.
