Francisco Garcia-Vargas Arrested in DUI Accident That Killed Motorcyclist

Fullerton, CA (June 12, 2024)- Alexander Marce, 28, tragically lost his life in a DUI-related motorcycle accident at the intersection of Orangethorpe Avenue and Gilbert Street on Wednesday night.

According to the Orange County District Attorney, 44-year-old Francisco Garcia-Vargas was driving his 1999 BMW 323i at speeds exceeding 100 miles per hour when he ran a red light.  And Therefore he collided with Marce, who was stopped at the red light on his 2019 Harley-Davidson.

The impact threw Marce from his motorcycle, causing him to land on the road, while Garcia-Vargas continued driving approximately 100 yards with the Harley trapped beneath his BMW.

Fullerton Police arrived at the scene to find Good Samaritans restraining Garcia-Vargas, preventing him from fleeing. As a result, officers were able to determine that his blood alcohol level was nearly three times the legal limit.  So therefore they arrested him on three felony charges, including DUI causing injury.

Sadly, Marce succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

Authorities are conducting a thorough investigation into the deadly collision. Witnesses are urged to contact the Fullerton Police Department with any information that could assist in the investigation.
