Bakersfield Hit-and-run Crash on South Union Ave. Kills Bicyclist

BAKERSFIELD, CA (March 10, 2022) – Early in the morning on Monday in Bakersfield, a hit-and-run driver killed a bicyclist. The March 7 crash occurred on South Union Avenue, close to White Lane and to the south of it.

The time was roughly 3:05 a.m., the California Highway Patrol said.

Authorities say a woman was riding a bicycle and heading southbound on South Union Avenue. A vehicle–which has not been described–struck the back end of her bike.

The person driving the vehicle did not stop to help, but fled the crash site.

The woman on the bicycle was killed in the hit-and-run crash. Her identity–including name, age, and city of residence–has not been reported.

Investigators are searching for the suspect hit-and-run driver, who has not been described, as well as the vehicle involved in the crash.
