Bicyclist Killed in Carlsbad during State Parks Officer’s Pursuit of Motorcycle

CARLSBAD, CA (August 16, 2022) – Early in the afternoon on Monday in Carlsbad, a motorcyclist who was fleeing pursuit by a State Parks officer struck and killed a bicyclist.
The August 15 crash occurred in the area of Palomar Airport Road and Carlsbad Boulevard.
The time was roughly 1:00 p.m., Jodee Reyes said. Reyes is with Carlsbad Police.
According to reports, a State Parks officer was pursuing a motorcyclist for excess speed and reckless driving.
During the pursuit, the motorcyclist struck a bicyclist.
The bicyclist was killed in the crash. The identity of the victim, including his name, age, and city of residence, has not been reported.
Responders transported the motorcycle driver and a passenger on the motorcycle to a hospital in the area.
The two patients suffered injuries that were described as serious.
The motorcycle driver was identified as 28 years old.
The female passenger was identified as 22 years old.
Their names have not been reported.
The identity of the State Parks officer has also not been reported.
