Bicyclist Struck and Killed on the 101 Fwy in Studio City

A fatal collision involving a bicyclist who was struck and killed in the center lane of the eastbound Hollywood 101 Freeway in Studio City, Friday morning, Mar. 9th. According to Los Angeles Fire Department spokesperson Amy Bastman, the fatal collision occurred just after 6:00 a.m. on the eastbound 101 freeway near the Laurel Canyon Boulevard between a vehicle and a pedestrian on a bicycle.

First responders arrived to find the victim’s body in the center lane of the freeway. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not released the identity of the victim but say that the bicycle was recovered leaning up against a retaining wall to the freeway. CalTrans issued a SigAlert and several lanes were closed as detectives conducted their investigation. All lanes were subsequently reopened about 9:20 a.m., according to California Highway Patrol.
