Long Beach, CA – An officer of the Long Beach Police Department was killed in a motorcycle crash while the officer was on his way to work Thursday afternoon, June 4th. 33 year-old Anton Fischer of Long Beach had been an officer with the Long Beach Police Department for 3 years and was assigned to the East Division’s Directed Enforcement Team.

Officer Fischer had been traveling eastbound on Ocean Avenue on his LAPD motorcycle when he was struck by a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee that was making a left turn from 7th Place onto westbound Ocean Avenue. Officer Fischer was unable to stop before the Jeep had struck the side of the motorcycle. Several eyewitnesses rushed to render aid to Officer Fischer until medical personnel could arrive. Officer Fischer was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly after arriving. The driver of the Jeep remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities. At this point no alcohol or drugs seem to play a factor in this accident. Any witness, or anyone with information, is asked to contact Long Beach police Detective David Lauro at 562-570-7355. Tips may also be submitted anonymously to L.A. Regional Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477.
