Motorcycle and Border Patrol Vehicle Crash in San Ysidro; Rider Injured

SAN YSIDRO, CA (November 18, 2022) – Late in the afternoon on Wednesday in San Ysidro, a crash involving a motorcycle and a patrol vehicle for U.S. Customs and Border Protection injured the rider. The November 16 crash occurred on Otay Mesa Road at East Beyer Boulevard.
The time was roughly 4:00 p.m. according to San Diego Police.
The motorcycle was traveling on Otay Mesa Road on a green light, reports say.
According to reports, police allege the Border patrol agent made a turn to the left in front of the motorcycle, and the two vehicles collided.
Responders found the motorcyclist suffered a number of injuries in the crash, including a broken knee, pelvis, and a dislocated leg.
They transported him to the hospital for treatment.
The motorcyclist was identified only as 56 years old. His name and city of residence have not been reported.
The Customs and Border Protection agent was identified only as 44 years old. The name, gender, and city of residence of the person is not known.
It is also not known if the agent was hurt in the crash.
Investigators are working to understand the incident, and they are collecting details and information for that effort.
