Motorcycle Crash on First Ave. in San Diego Kills Rider

SAN DIEGO, CA (August 23, 2022) – Early in the morning on Friday in San Diego, a crash involving a motorcycle and a Prius killed the rider. The August 19 crash occurred in the area of Cortez Hill, on First Avenue at Ash Street.
The time was roughly a little before 2:00 a.m., San Diego Police said.
Authorities suspect the motorcycle–described as a Harley Davidson–was traveling at a fast speed on First Avenue, and went through a light that was red.
A vehicle–described as a Prius–was traveling on Ash Street and heading west.
The two vehicles collided in the intersection, with the motorcycle hitting the Prius broadside.
Responders found the rider died at the crash site. He was identified only as 32 years old.
His name and city of residence have not been reported.
Responders transported the driver of the Prius to a hospital in the area. The person suffered injuries that were described as minor.
The identity of the patient has not been reported.
Investigators are continuing their work on the crash. If anyone has information about the incident, the person can contact San Diego Police.
