Motorcyclist Killed in Crash in Northeast Las Vegas Identified

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department has released the identity of a motorcyclist who was killed during a fatal collision with a vehicle in the northeast Valley Sunday afternoon, September 17th. The incident occurred just after 3:30 p.m. when LVMPD officers responded to a report of a collision near the intersection of East Lake Mead Boulevard and Christy Lane, involving a motorcycle and an SUV. 28-year old Nicholas Turnbull was riding a Harley Davidson motorcycle eastbound on East Lake Mead Boulevard approaching Christy lane. A Saturn Vue, driven by a 75-year old man, was traveling west on East Lake Mead and turned left to go south on Christy. Turnbull’ motorcycle collided with the right passenger-side of the Saturn Vue and was ejected from his seat. He was thrown onto the street where he was found when first responders arrived.

Turnbull was transported by ambulance to nearby North Vista Hospital and was listed in critical condition. Turnbull later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead by hospital staff. The driver of the Saturn remained at the scene and did not show any signs of impairment. The official cause of death for Turnbull was determined to be blunt force chest trauma sustained from being ejected from his motorcycle and hitting the pavement and the manner was ruled an accident by LVPD and the Clark County Coroner’s Bureau. This is the 91st traffic-related fatality in Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s jurisdiction since the beginning of 2017.
