BRENTWOOD, CA– The Los Angeles Coroner’s Office has identified the motorcyclist who was killed in a fatal collision on the San Diego 405 Freeway in Brentwood, a Los Angeles suburb, Sunday evening February 2nd. According to the California Highway Patrol, 28-year old James Lopez of Newbury Park was traveling northbound on the 405 Freeway when for reasons unknown Lopez lost control of his motorcycle and fell onto the road.
The force of impact caused Lopez to be ejected from his motorcycle and his body fell into the carpool lane of the 405 Freeway near the Skirball Cultural Center just before the Sepulveda Boulevard Exit. The incident was reported to CHP sometime before 9:30 P.M. When emergency crews arrived on scene Lopez’ body showed signs that he had been struck by a vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials were unable to find the driver of the vehicle that had run Lopez over and the driver did not stop to render aid to Lopez. CHP officers ruled out alcohol and drugs as factors in the fatal crash. Authorities will release additional information once it becomes available.
