Costa Mesa, CA (August 30, 2018) – A motorcyclist was listed in critical condition following a hit-and-run incident in which a father and teenage daughter chased down the suspects Wednesday evening, August 29th. Costa Mesa police officer responded to a report of a hit-and-run accident involving a motorcyclist and an SUV at the intersection of Victoria and Maple Streets at around 9:00 p.m.
Authorities say that the suspect’s vehicle, an Isuzu Rodeo, had been traveling southbound on Victoria Street when it collided with a motorcycle. The driver soon fled the scene and that’s when the father and daughter duo gave chase. “He was driving down Victoria and hit a motorcyclist and then ran, so me and my dad chased him down to Pinecreek Apartments,” Giannina Bauer, the daughter, told a police. “It was scary, because we saw it happen”, Bauer continued. The pair pursued the Isuzu Rodeo for a couple miles to Pinecreek Apartments located close to the Orange County Fairgrounds. Once at the apartment complex the suspect and a passenger exited the vehicle and fled on foot inside the complex leaving their vehicle in an alleyway. Officers arrived and were able to locate the suspect but were not able to find his passenger. The motorcyclist was transported via ambulance to Hoag Memorial Hospital where he was listed in critical condition. No further information has been released at this time.
