San Diego Bicyclist Struck on North Mountain View Dr.; DUI Suspected

SAN DIEGO, CA (March 30, 2022) – Late in the afternoon on Sunday in San Diego, a driver suspected of DUI struck a bicyclist, causing serious injuries. The March 27 crash occurred in the area of Adams North, on North Mountain View Drive in the 3400 block.

The time was roughly 4:43 p.m., Officer D. O’Brien said. O’Brien is with San Diego Police.

A vehicle–described as a Honda Civic–had been traveling on Mountain View Drive and heading west, reports say. The Honda struck the curb, and crashed into the bicycle rider.

Responders transported the bicyclist to the hospital for treatment. The patient suffered injuries that were described as serious.

The victim was identified only as 61 years old. His name and city of residence have not been reported.

According to O’Brien, authorities arrested the driver on suspicion of DUI. The driver was identified only as 28 years old. The name, gender, and city of residence of the person is not known from reports.

Investigators are continuing to work on the crash.
