San Diego Motorcycle Crash in East County Kills Rider

SAN DIEGO, CA (April 19, 2022) – Late in the afternoon on Sunday in east San Diego County, a crash involving a motorcycle and an SUV killed the rider. The April 17 crash occurred on Winter Gardens Boulevard close to Sapota Drive.

The time was roughly 3:40 p.m., the California Highway Patrol said.

No details have been reported on how the crash happened, or what led to the crash. According to reports, the SUV–described as a Chevrolet Blazer–and the motorcycle collided, with the motorcycle having heavy damage.

Responders arrived to help, but the rider was killed in the crash. The identity of the person, including name, age, gender, and city of residence, has not been reported.

The person who was driving the SUV has also not been identified. Reports do not say what injuries the driver may have suffered.

It is also not known if there were any passengers in the SUV when the crash occurred.

Investigators are working to understand how and why the crash happened. They are continuing to collect details about the incident.
