SOUTH LOS ANGELES, CA (December 3, 2021) – Early in the morning on Friday in South Los Angeles, a scooter rider was struck and killed. The December 3 crash occurred blocks from the USC campus, where Adams Boulevard and Flower Street intersect.
The time was roughly 5:00 a.m., Los Angeles Police said.
Authorities said a car, which was traveling in the area close to the 110 Freeway, seemed to have struck a light pole that then fell, and a utility box, before the man on the scooter was struck.
The car has not been described.
Responders arrived to help, but the man who had been riding the scooter died at the crash site. His identity, including name, age, and city of residence, has not been reported.
Two people–identified only as the driver and a passenger–who had been traveling in the car stayed at the crash site.
Investigators are working to understand why the crash happened. They are in the process of collecting details and information, as well as any video footage that surveillance cameras may have recorded.
