Poway Crash on Kirkham Road Seriously Injures Bicyclist

POWAY, CA (October 28, 2022) – Early in the morning on Thursday in Poway, a bicyclist was struck and seriously injured. The October 27 crash occurred on Kirkham Road in the 12100 block.

The time was roughly 7:59 a.m., the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department said.

No details have been reported on how the crash happened, but reports say the Sheriff’s Department thinks the morning sun rising in the sky may have affected the driver as the person was heading east on the roadway.

The driver remained at the crash site, called for responders, and helped the victim, according to reports.

Responders transported the bicyclist to Escondido’s Palomar Medical Center. The patient suffered injuries that were described as serious.

The person was identified only as 62 years old. The person’s name, gender, and city of residence are not known from reports.

The driver was identified as 49 years old. The driver’s name, gender, and city of residence have not been reported.
