Wallace, CA (April 13th 2023) – A fatal motorcycle crash occurred in Wallace on April 9, leaving one person dead and another seriously injured. The victim was identified as a 66-year-old Lodi man, who was riding a 2004 Harley-Davidson motorcycle on Southworth Road when he veered off the east shoulder. He then collided with two barbed-wire fences before coming to a stop on its right side in a grass field. He died at the scene of the crash.
Chad Katzakian Seriously Injured in DUI Motorcycle Crash on Southworth Road
According to the Calaveras Consolidated Fire Department, the victim was being followed by another motorcyclist, 62-year-old Chad Katzakian, who was riding a 2000 Harley-Davidson Road King. Katzakian also crashed into the field around the same time, suffering major injuries.
Following the incident, police arrested Katzakian on suspicion of DUI. He was then flown by helicopter to Memorial Medical Center in Modesto, where he was treated for his injuries.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation. However, authorities suspect that DUI was a factor in the incident. The crash highlights the dangers of drinking and driving, especially when it comes to operating a motorcycle.
