Sailor Killed in Motorcycle Accident in San Diego Identified

San Diego County (July 24, 2019) – Authorities have released the identity of a San Diego based sailor who died following a motorcycle accident with another vehicle during the Independence Day weekend Sunday July 7th. 30- year old Emmett Antoine Brown Jr., a Culinary Specialist 3rd Class, was traveling southbound on Valley Center Road, located west of Hellhole Canyon, on a 2007 Honda CBR600 RR motorcycle. According to California Highway Patrol, Brown entered the intersection of Mirar De Valle Road and Valley Center Road sometime around 4:10 P.M. when Brown was struck by a Nissan Altima that had turned left into the roadway. Brown was thrown from the motorcycle and was discovered in the roadway by first responders.

Brown was taken to Palomar Medical Center where he was pronounced dead shortly after arriving. The driver of the Nissan Altima, along with an adult passenger, and a 3-year old child were also transported to a Palomar Medical Center where they were treated for non-life threatening injuries and were released shortly after.

Brown was originally from Georgia before he enlisted in the US Navy in 2009 and pinned 3rd Class in 2012. Brown moved to Chula Vista in 2014 and was stationed at Navy Medical Center located in San Diego. Brown’s death was the fleet’s 23rd private motor vehicle fatality since the federal fiscal year began on Oct. 1, 2019, according to Navy data. 12 of those killed were motorcyclists.
