San Diego County Motorcycle Crash on SR 78 near Ocotillo Wells Injures Rider

SAN DIEGO COUNTY, CA (December 30, 2021) – Early in the afternoon on Wednesday in San Diego County, a motorcyclist was injured in a crash with a big rig. The December 29 crash occurred on State Route 78 in the area of Ocotillo Wells.

The time was roughly 12:30 p.m., California Highway Patrol said.

No details have been reported on how the crash happened.

Responders arrived and transported the motorcyclist by airlift to the hospital, according to Frank LoCoco. LoCoco is a captain with Cal Fire.

The patient suffered injuries that were described as serious. The current condition of the patient is not known.

The identity of the motorcyclist, including name, age, gender, and city of residence, has not been reported.

The identity of the truck driver has also not been reported.

Investigators are continuing their efforts to understand why the crash happened.
