San Diego Motorcycle Crash at Market Street Involving Tow Truck Injures Rider

SAN DIEGO, CA (June 21, 2022) – Late in the afternoon on Monday in San Diego, a motorcyclist was injured in a crash involving a tow truck. The June 20 crash occurred where 13th Street and Market Street intersect, in the East Village area.
The time was roughly a little before 5:00 p.m., according to John Buttle. Buttle is an officer with San Diego Police.
Authorities allege the tow truck driver did not stop for a light that was red at the intersection. The tow truck collided with the motorcycle.
Responders transported the motorcyclist to the hospital. The injuries he suffered include a spleen that was perforated, an open facture to the tibia and fibula, and a broken foot.
The injuries are not life threatening, according to reports, but they are serious.
The victim was identified only as 29 years old. His name and city of residence have not been reported.
The tow truck driver was identified only as 42 years old. The person’s name and city of residence have not been reported, and reports do not say if the person was hurt in the crash.
Investigators are continuing their work on the incident.
