Bicyclist Fatally Struck by Truck in San Jose

San Jose, CA (May 7, 2024) – A tragic incident unfolded on Tuesday morning at the intersection of Senter Road and East Capitol Expressway, resulting in the loss of a bicyclist’s life. So unfortunately, the fatal collision occurred around 7:30 a.m. just in front of Andrew Hill High School, sending shockwaves through the community.

According to the San Jose Police Department, the driver of a red truck was traveling west on Capitol Expressway when they allegedly ran a red light at the intersection. Subsequently, the truck collided with the bicyclist and a white truck, both of which were heading northbound.

After Killing The Bicyclist, The Driver of The Red Truck Attempted To Flee

Following the collision, the driver of the red truck reportedly attempted to flee the scene. However, law enforcement officers were able to locate and apprehend the individual shortly after the incident.

Tragically, authorities pronounced the bicyclist dead at the scene after sustaining fatal injuries. As of now, the victim has not been publicly identified pending notification of their next of kin.

Fortunately, the driver of the white truck suffered non-life-threatening injuries and is expected to recover.
