Motorcyclist Dies after Crash with Semi Truck in Modesto

Modesto, CA (March 5, 2024) – Tragedy struck on Tuesday afternoon, March 5, as a man lost his life in a motorcycle accident on Tenaya Drive in Modesto.

Man Killed in Motorcycle Accident on Tenaya Drive near Mitchell Road

The fatal crash occurred around 3:00 p.m. just west of Mitchell Road, near Modesto Airport. According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the man was riding his 1992 Suzuki motorcycle westbound on Tenaya Drive when he attempted to overtake a dark-colored coupe by crossing over a double yellow line.

Simultaneously, 44-year-old Shane Hebnera of Manteca was driving a 2023 Freightliner eastbound on Tenaya Drive. The motorcyclist collided with the driver’s side of the semi-truck, causing him to fall off his bike and onto the roadway.

It Remains Unclear if Alcohol or Drugs Play A Part In The Motorcycle Accident

Emergency services arrived at the scene and transported the motorcyclist to Memorial Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead. Meanwhile, Hebnera emerged from the crash unharmed.

At this time, it is unclear if drugs or alcohol were contributing factors in the crash. However, authorities have confirmed that both parties involved were wearing proper safety equipment at the time of the collision.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing as authorities work to determine the exact circumstances that led to this tragic loss of life.
