Driver of Stolen Car Strikes and Kills Bicyclist on Arrow Highway

Irwindale, CA (July 9, 2024) – A bicyclist was struck and killed by a stolen car Tuesday evening, July 9, at the intersection of Arrow Highway and Rivergrade Road. In addition, the tragic incident occurred around 8:31 p.m. near the Santa Fe Dam Recreation Area.

According to the Irwindale Police Department, the events began when they received a report of a car theft from a Toyota dealership on the 3500 block of Peck Road in El Monte. As a result, police were pursuing the stolen vehicle, identified as a Land Rover.

Stolen Car Suspect Kills Bicyclist On Arrow Highway

The suspect, attempting to evade capture, led officers on a high-speed chase. So therefore, several minutes into the pursuit, the suspect’s vehicle struck a male bicyclist at the intersection of Arrow Highway and Rivergrade Road.

The impact fatally injured the bicyclist, who was pronounced dead at the scene. But at this time, authorities have not yet released his identity.

Police apprehended the suspect and booked him into the West Covina Jail on a murder charge. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
