Riverside Motorcycle Crash on 91 Freeway Kills Rider

RIVERSIDE, CA (July 8, 2022) – Early in the morning on Thursday in Riverside, a crash involving a car and a motorcycle killed a rider. The July 7 crash occurred on the 91 Freeway, near Magnolia Avenue and to the west of it.

The time was roughly 5:00 a.m., the California Highway Patrol said.

The motorcycle was traveling on the eastbound side of the freeway in the HOV lane, reports say.

A vehicle–described as a Tesla–was also traveling in the same lane. According to reports, the Tesla was behind the motorcycle.

No details have been reported on how the motorcycle and the Tesla crashed. The force of the collision threw the motorcyclist, according Keith Ballantyne. Ballantyne is an officer with the California Highway Patrol.

The Tesla came to a stop beside in the freeway in shrubbery.

Responders found the motorcyclist died at the crash site. The identity of the person has not been reported.

Reports say the driver of the Tesla was not hurt in the crash. The driver’s identity is not known from reports.

Investigators are at work to understand how and why the collision occurred.
