1 Person Killed in Motorcycle Collision on 5 Fwy in San Juan Capistrano

San Juan Capistrano, CA (April 12th, 2023) – A fatal accident involving a motorcycle and a vehicle occurred on the 5 Freeway in San Juan Capistrano on Monday night, according to the California Highway Patrol. One person was killed in the crash, which happened on the northbound side of the freeway near Junipero Serra Road.

Reports indicate that the crash happened at around 9:22 p.m., with a motorcyclist lying in the road and several vehicles stopping to assist. Emergency services were called to the scene and the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at around 10:05 p.m.

The authorities closed down several lanes on the freeway, including the number 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 lanes. A SigAlert was also issued, advising drivers to avoid the area while investigations were ongoing.

The name of the deceased motorcyclist has not yet been released, pending notification of family members. It is also unclear whether the driver of the other vehicle was injured in the crash.
