Gasquet, CA (July 23, 2019) – 2 people were killed following a motorcycle accident in Gasquet, a city in northern California about 22 miles southwest of the Oregon border, Friday afternoon July 19th. According to Crescent City California Highway Patrol, officers responded to reports of a collision between a motorcycle and a Ford F-150 towing trailer sometime around 1:20 P.M. on Highway 199 just north of Little Jones Creek Road.
The motorcycle and the Ford truck were both traveling southbound on Highway 199 approaching Little Jones Creek Road when the motorcycle pulled over to the right shoulder. The driver of the Ford began to pass to the left as the motorcycle reportedly tipped over into the southbound lane. The Ford struck the driver and passenger of the motorcycle and both were ejected into the pathway of the towed trailer as a result. The trailer ran both male and female victims over. The driver of the motorcycle was described as a 70-year old man and his passenger, a 71-year old female according to officers. The driver of the Ford and towed trailer was not injured and authorities do not suspect alcohol or drugs as a factor in the collision. The highway was closed for about 35 minutes, and traffic was delayed an additional 90 minutes during the investigation and crash cleanup.
