Bicyclist, 14, Critically Injured in Accident

Bakersfield, CA (January 20, 2025) – A 14-year-old cyclist sustained severe injuries in a traffic accident near Truxtun Avenue and Williams Street on Monday afternoon, according to the Bakersfield Police Department.

The incident occurred around 2:00 p.m. when a group of teenagers was reportedly riding bicycles eastbound in the westbound traffic lanes while performing wheelies. A gray Toyota sedan traveling westbound struck one of the cyclists.

14 Year Old Cyclist Was Transported To Hospital In Critical Condition

Emergency responders arrived at the scene and transported the injured teen to a hospital in critical condition.

The driver of the Toyota remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Authorities stated that neither speed nor impairment appeared to be factors in the crash.

The investigation is ongoing, and the Bakersfield Police Department are seeking assistance from anyone who may have witnessed the incident.
