SAN DIEGO, CA (October 21, 2022) – On Wednesday night in San Diego, a crash in the neighborhood of Egger Highlands injured a motorcyclist and a pedestrian. The October 19 crash occurred on Palm Avenue.
The time was roughly 10:30 p.m., Robert Heims said. Heims is an officer with San Diego Police.
A motorcycle had been traveling on Palm Avenue and heading west, reports say.
Authorities allege the motorcycle had a green light when the crash occurred, and the pedestrian was not walking across the street in a crosswalk that is marked.
The motorcycle hit the pedestrian, and then struck the curb of the center divider.
The impact threw the motorcyclist under a chain link fence, reports say.
Responders found the motorcyclist had a broken leg, a compound fracture in his arm, and other injuries.
They transported him to the hospital. His current condition is not known.
Responders also transported the pedestrian to the hospital. Reports say the pedestrian suffered major injuries described as life threatening.
Neither person has been identified, including their names, ages, and cities of residence.
In order to understand why the crash happened, investigators are looking at the details. If anyone has information regarding the crash, the person can call the traffic division of the San Diego Police Department.
The number is 858-495-7800.
Calls can also be made anonymously to Crime Stoppers. That number is 888-580-8477.
