Hemet Crash Critically Injures Bicyclist; Public’s Help Needed Identifying Patient

HEMET, CA (December 27, 2021) – Late at night on Christmas Eve in Hemet, a bicyclist who was involved in a collision with a vehicle was critically injured. The public’s help is  needed to identify the patient.

The December 24 crash occurred where Sanderson Avenue and Devonshire Avenue intersect. The time was roughly 11:24 p.m., Hemet Police said.

A vehicle–described as a Toyota Camry–had been traveling on Sanderson Avenue and heading south. According to Hemet Police, the driver entered the intersection at Devonshire Avenue on a light that was green.

The car and the bicyclist collided.

Responders transported the bicyclist to the hospital. His condition was described as critical.

The person who had been driving the Toyota remained at the crash site and cooperated with investigators. The identity of the driver has not been reported.

According to Eric Dickson, who is a lieutenant with Hemet Police, investigators are seeking help from the public to identify the injured bicyclist.

Authorities described the patient as Latino, roughly 15 to 18 years old. He is 5 feet 9 inches tall; his weight is 130 pounds.

The bicyclist had been wearing blue jeans and a brown belt at the time of the crash, and a black sweatshirt with a hood. His left hand has two tattoos that are small.
