Matt Wennerstrom Dies in Thousand Oaks Motorcycle Crash

THOUSAND OAKS, CA (March 1, 2022) – Early in the evening on Saturday in Thousand Oaks, a motorcycle crash killed Matt Wennerstrom. Wennerstrom was known for helping to save people during the mass shooting incident that occurred in 2018 at the Borderline Bar & Grill located in Thousand Oaks.

The February 26, 2022 motorcycle crash occurred in the area of Newbury Park, on Lynn Road near East Kelley Road.

The time was roughly 6:20 p.m., the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office said.

Wennerstrom had been heading eastbound on Lynn Road. The motorcycle he was riding collided with a vehicle, which has not been described.

Responders pronounced Wennerstrom deceased at the crash site. He was 24 years old.

Responders transported two occupants of the vehicle to the hospital. The patients suffered injuries that have not been described.

Their current condition is unknown. The identities of the driver and the passenger have not been reported.

Investigators are working on the crash to understand why it happened.
