Bakersfield Hit-and-run Crash in Pearl Street Alley Kills Bicyclist

BAKERSFIELD, CA (August 2, 2022) – Early in the morning on Monday in east Bakersfield, a hit-and-run crash killed a bicyclist. The August 1 crash occurred in the Pearl Street alley in the 1200 block.

The time was roughly 7:55 a.m., the California Highway Patrol said.

According to authorities, the person riding the bicycle was traveling in the alley when a car struck him.

The suspect hit-and-run driver did not stop to help the victim or remain at the crash site.

Responders found the victim was killed in the crash. He was only identified as 40 years old.

His name and city of residence have not been reported.

Investigators are searching for the suspect hit-and-run driver, and the vehicle involved, neither of which has been described.
