Elfego Andrade Killed while Bicycling by Fullerton Hit-and-run Driver

FULLERTON, CA (August 19, 2022) – Early in the morning on Thursday in Fullerton, a hit-and-run driver struck and killed a man who was bicycling to work. The victim was later identified by his family as Elfego Andrade, 67 years old.

Reports say a vehicle–which may have been Ford F-250, green in color–struck Andrade; the vehicle hit the back end of Andrade’s bicycle, and the vehicle went onto the sidewalk.

The suspect driver fled the crash site.

Responders transported Andrade to a trauma center in the area. He was pronounced deceased.

Reports say Andrade had recently celebrated his 50th wedding anniversary.

A person called in to authorities that a pickup truck was driving on Chapman Avenue with one tire missing, and the person followed the truck.

At Jacaranda Place and Delphine Place, the witness reported that the driver of the pickup truck abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot.

The suspect driver was described as 5 feet 8 inches tall, and wearing black garments.

Investigators are working to collect information about the crash, the suspect driver, and to determine if the pickup truck was the vehicle that struck Andrade.
