Motorcyclist Killed in Ontario

July 11th ─ a motorcyclist is dead after trying to evade police early Tuesday morning. According to authorities the incident began when a San Bernardino County Sheriff’s deputy attempted to initiate a stop with a GSXR1000 motorcycle around 12:45 a.m. near Milliken Avenue and 7th Street in Rancho Cucamonga, after noticing the bike did not have a license plate. The motorcyclist then fled the area reaching speed of up to 100 mph according to deputies. Deputies chased it for about a mile and a half, until it reached 4th Street in Ontario when the chase was called off by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department due to excessive and unsafe speeds. The motorcycle continued another half-mile south until it broadsided a 1991 Toyota Corolla that was turning to enter the 10 freeway, according to Ontario Police. The driver of the Corolla was not injured but the motorcyclist was ejected from the bike and pronounced dead at the scene by responding Ontario Police officers. Excessive speed and alcohol have not been ruled out as factors in the crash and the identity of the motorcyclist has not been released until his family is notified.

Motorcyclist Seriously Injured in Crash on Flamingo Boulevard

June 30th ─ a motorcyclist is expected to recover after sustaining serious injuries after an accident with a mattress and box spring in Las Vegas. The incident occurred around 1:30 a.m. this morning when Metro police officers initially received calls about a collision between a vehicle and a motorcycle near the intersection of Flamingo Boulevard and El Capitan Way. Authorities arrived to find the injured motorcyclist in serious condition, along with a wrecked motorcycle and a damaged vehicle.

Road Rage Incident Leads to Chain Reaction Multi-Car Crash in Santa Clarita

June 23rd ─ a road-rage incident involving a motorcycle and a sedan led to a multi- car accident resulting in one man being sent to the hospital. The accident occurred Wednesday morning around 6:00 a.m. in the carpool lane of the 14 Freeway South, near the Newhall exit. Video footage, taken by an eyewitness, shows the motorcyclist kicking at the Nissan’s driver’s side door, the Nisan can be seen trying to pin the motorcyclist against the K-rail median of the center divider resulting in the Nissan driver losing control of his vehicle. The Nissan swerves wildly into the K-rail median and a chain-reaction crash follows. The Nissan ricochets off the median and then crashes into an uninvolved truck that caused the truck to overturn and land on its roof. The motorcyclist rode off without stopping to lend assistance to the crash victims. The California Highway Patrol said the incident is considered a hit-and-run and authorities are now searching for that motorcycle rider that caused the accident which sent the innocent driver of the truck to the hospital. The driver of the truck, 75-year old Carlos Benavidez who was on his way to work, suffered no major injuries, and was discharged same day from the hospital.

Motorcyclist Killed in San Leandro

June 8th ─ A motorcyclist was killed after a collision between 2 vans on Interstate (I-) 880 Tuesday afternoon near San Leandro. The Alameda County Coroner’s Bureau has identified the motorcyclist as 33-year old Matthew Newman, of San Ramon, located about 34 miles east of San Francisco. The incident occurred around 4:00 p.m. Tuesday on northbound I-880 just south of Davis Street. According to authorities, Newman was lane splitting close to the center divider during rush hour traffic. Newman’s motorcycle had hit the passenger side of a 2005 Ford Econoline E350 van and then hit the drive’s side of a 2010 Volkswagen Routan minivan resulting in Newman being ejected onto the interstate. Authorities arrived at the scene to find a wrecked motorcycle and Newman’s body face down blocking two left-hand lanes.
