Man Dead in Motorcycle Crash on 8 Freeway in San Diego

San Diego, CA (April 28, 2024) – A tragic motorcycle accident on the 8 Freeway near Rosecrans Street resulted in the death of one person. The incident occurred around 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).

The crash involved a man riding an eastbound black Yamaha Y2F690 motorcycle, which was splitting lanes at an unknown speed. The motorcyclist struck the back of a Ford F-150, which was stopped due to traffic. No one can determine why. The impact caused the motorcyclist to be ejected from his bike and collide with the rear of the truck. Additionally, his 19-year-old female passenger was also ejected onto the roadway.

Woman Passenger Survives Being Thrown From From Bike

Emergency personnel arrived promptly, and the woman was rushed to UC San Diego Medical Center with major injuries. But tragically, the male motorcyclist succumbed to his injuries at the scene. Therefore, authorities have not yet released his name.

The driver of the Ford, a 59-year-old man from Murrieta, remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. So, police do not suspect impairment on his part. However, the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office will determine if alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash.

The CHP continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the accident.
