13-Year-Old Cyclist Fatally Struck by Vehicle On Loyola and Columbus In Bakersfield

BAKERSFIELD, CA (November 13, 2024) – A 13-year-old boy tragically lost his life after being struck by a vehicle while riding his bicycle in northeast Bakersfield on Wednesday afternoon.

The crash occurred around 4:15 p.m. at the intersection of Loyola Street and Columbus Street. According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), Jeremiah Villalobos was riding his bike when he was hit by a vehicle at the intersection.

Jeremiah Villalobos Succumbed To His injuries At Kern Medical Center

Villalobos sustained severe injuries and was rushed to Kern Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries later that evening, the Kern County Coroner’s Office confirmed.

Loved ones have created a GoFundMe page to assist with funeral expenses for the young victim.

Authorities have not confirmed whether the driver involved remained at the scene following the collision. The incident is currently under investigation.
