Hit-and-run Crash in El Monte Kills Bicyclist at Lower Azusa Rd.

EL MONTE, CA (March 25, 2022) – On Tuesday night in El Monte, a hit-and-run crash killed a bicyclist. The March 22 crash occurred where Lower Azusa Road and El Monte Avenue intersect.
The time was roughly 8:55 p.m., El Monte Police said.
According to authorities, the victim was riding a bicycle and heading eastbound on Lower Azusa Road. Video from a surveillance camera recorded a vehicle–described as a Toyota Avalon, burgundy or maroon in color–heading in the same direction as the bicyclist.
The Toyota hit the bicyclist. The driver did not stop to help the victim, but fled the crash site.
Responders found the victim died at the crash site. The victim was identified only as 62 years old. The name and city of residence of the person has not been reported.
Investigators are searching for the suspect hit-and-run driver, who has not been described. They are continuing in their efforts to collect details and information.
