Fresno Police Search for Driver in Fatal Hit-and-Run That Killed Cyclist

FRESNO, CA (May 14, 2025) — Fresno police are seeking the public’s help in locating the driver involved in a fatal hit-and-run that claimed the life of Luis Perez on Sunday evening.

The victim, 39-year-old Luis Perez of Fresno, was struck while riding his bicycle near the intersection of Belmont Avenue and Thesta Street shortly before 6 p.m., according to the Fresno Police Department.

Luis Perez Was Left Critically Injured In The Roadway

Emergency crews arrived at the scene to find Perez critically injured in the roadway. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

Witnesses Report That A Black Sedan Fled The Scene Before Authorities Arrived

The vehicle involved, described as a black sedan, fled the scene before officers arrived. Detectives are now treating the case as a felony hit-and-run and are working to identify the driver responsible.

Authorities initially withheld the victim’s identity while notifying family, but later confirmed Perez as the deceased.
