Early Morning Motorcycle Accident on Highway 43 Leaves Rider Dead

BAKERSFIELD, CA (May 19, 2025) — A motorcyclist was killed early Monday morning in a collision involving a pickup truck on Highway 43 near Burbank Street, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The crash occurred at approximately 3:47 a.m. on May 19 and involved a 2025 Honda motorcycle and a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado. According to CHP officials, the Chevrolet was traveling southbound on Highway 43 at about 55 mph when it struck the motorcycle, which was heading east on Burbank Street.

Early Reports State The The Motorcycle Rider May Have Failed To Yield

Preliminary findings suggest the motorcyclist may have failed to stop before entering the highway. He pulled into the path of the oncoming pickup. The driver of the Chevrolet reportedly attempted to swerve to avoid the motorcycle, but was unable to prevent the collision. He struck the bike on its left side.

The impact threw the motorcyclist from the vehicle, and unfortunately, the rider died instantly at the scene. The driver of the pickup was not injured.

Authorities have not yet released the identity of the motorcyclist, pending notification of family. The CHP is continuing to investigate the cause of the fatal crash.
